St Mary’s School provides its students and staff access to a number of technology resources. We believe these resources provide incredible opportunities to enhance learning and improve communication within our community and beyond.
St. Mary’s students have access to a number of technology tools. All classrooms are equipped with an interactive smart board. Our K-8 curriculum focuses on digital citizenship, coding, keyboarding, and content creation. Students in grades K-2 have access to numerous iPads and computer lab. Students in grade 3 have 1:1 access to iPads. Students in grades 4-8 are in a 1:1 Chromebook environment.
Our computer lab, adjacent to our library, houses 25 Chromebooks. We also have a MAC Lab located on the Junior High floor.
With the privilege of access comes great responsibility for students, teachers, staff and families. St Mary’s School expects all community members to exercise appropriate personal responsibility in their use of these resources. Our policies are intended to promote the most effective, safe, productive, and instructionally sound uses of networked information & communication tools. Our school maintains a system of Internet filtering intended to protect students from exposure to Internet materials that are harmful or explicit.
To help build a positive school culture that supports the safe and responsible use of technology, students in grades K-8 participate in digital citizenship lessons created by Common Sense Media. The curriculum is based on AASL (American Association of School Librarians) and ISTE (International Society of Technology Education) standards.
