The Student Council at SMS consists of 15 members. The SMS Junior High Student Council focuses on developing and improving the academic, social, and spiritual environment of the Junior High through social, school governance, and school spirit activities and events. Student Council members are positive role models who connect the student body to the faculty and the community to make for a positive, challenging, enjoyable, and compassionate school atmosphere

Many different Cub Scout, Girl Scout and Brownie troops made up of St. Mary’s students meet regularly after school and in the evenings.

Fifth graders at SMS have the opportunity to act as leaders and role models for younger children in the role of safety patrol. The students act as crossing guards both before and after school. Training for this program is provided through the Minnesota Department of Transportation and follows their specific guidelines.
