The 6th graders visited Historic Fort Spelling today where their MN history studies were brought to life. The students had fun visiting the oldest standing house in MN, learning about laundry chores, the Dredd Scott case, and medicine back in the 1820s

A HUGE Thank You to Paula Trenda at Curly Girlz Candy for showing our Business & Marketing class just how they make their delicious candies!! The kids were able to ask many questions from “How did you start your business?” to “What was the scariest part of going into business?” The main question of the day was, “Can we have more candy?”
Congratulations to our Shining Knights this week: 1st grader Paige, 2nd grader Zamya, and 6th grader Chloe. We are proud to recognize all these students for their positive positive attitude and eagerness to learn!
The 5th graders had a great day at Eagan's Feed My Starving Children. They were able to help pack 133 boxes of food which equals 28,728 meals. This will feed 79 kids for a full year. The meals we pack will be going to Zambia, Africa. The 5th graders also donated $88 of their own money which will feed 1 child for a year. It was a great way to spend the day!
Our 2-day, 3-day, and 4-day preschool classes continued their fun tradition of coloring eggs with a loved one this week! One thing is for sure - preschoolers make some colorful, beautiful eggs! May you and your family be blessed as you celebrate the true meaning of Easter, from the reflection of Good Friday to the joy of Easter Sunday and the promise of eternal life.
Our students enjoyed the Live Stations of the Cross today, performed by 10th Grade REP Confirmation students. They did a great job depicting the path that Jesus walked on his way to His cruxifixction. As we enter the Triduum, we celebrate the gift of the love of Jesus – given to us as an example of self-less love.
Congratulations to 2nd grader Daniel for being this week's Shining Knight! He is recognized for his contributions and positive attitude in the classroom.
We are thrilled to announce that this year's Spirit of the Knight at the Night of Knights Auction raised well over the $50,000 needed to replace the bleachers in the gymnasium! The excess will be applied to our building repair loan. Over 500 people attended last night's auction and we are still tallying the evening's total result. We are so incredibly blessed by your generosity and grateful for your commitment to St. Mary's School.

4 SHOC representatives (3 of them were our alumni - yay!) talked with our 7th graders about making good choices and standing up for what is right. They talked about a wide variety of topics, but one of the eye-opening things discussed was Vaping because it is a growing epidemic in schools. Researchers are quickly finding that vaping may be more lethal than smoking. Did you know Cytotoxic chemicals are in most of the "fruit" "fun" smelling flavors that attract kids and are actually the worst for your health?
At St. Mary's we very much take pride in the way our alumni thrive and get involved at OHS. Here's just another example of alumni excellence! On Friday around 85 St. Mary's School 5th-8th graders participated in "Baby Ball". It has become a fun tradition and is always something students look forward to. They raised $1038, with all proceeds being donated to Birthright of Owatonna.
Congratulations to 7th grader Caleb and 8th grader Mya for being this week's Shining Knights. Both have strong work ethics and great leadership skills.
The 5th graders held a bake sale today at the Sacred Heart Parish Center for the K-8 students of SMS. The bake sale was held to raise money for two of our own St. Mary's families who are battling cancer. The delicious treats and baskets brought in by our 5th grade families raised a total of $755.70. What a successful event these wonderful 5th graders put on!
