Preparing for Easter at St. Mary's takes place in many different ways. The Preschoolers have a fun tradition of coloring Easter eggs! The 2-day, 3-day, and 4-day friends have been busy creating some beautiful eggs!!!
On Friday, March 16 over 110 SMS students in grades 5-8 took part in our 10th annual Baby Ball tournament, with proceeds benefiting Birthright of Owatonna. The event was full of fun and energy, and helped support a good cause - raising $1219!
14 SMS band kids spent the day making music with other kids from SE Minnesota. Then they performed for their families! They were great representatives of our school!
Both stops were very educational. St. Mary's School is proud to have received many compliments during the day around how well-behaved our students were and the quality of questions they asked.
7th & 8th Graders spent the day at the Science Museum to enhance the current theme of Diversity in Religion & Language Arts. They experienced a play performance “A Race to the Finish Line” and they were able to tour the exhibit “Race: Why are we so different?”.
In 1998, Saint John's Abbey and University commissioned renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson to produce a hand-written, hand-illuminated Bible. Our students were able to view this work of art that unites an ancient Benedictine tradition with the technology and vision of today, illuminating the Word of God for a new millennium.
We had the pleasure of Bishop Quinn leading Mass today, helping us celebrate our 140 years! After, we all enjoyed birthday cupcakes! Thank you to all who have chosen SMS over the past 140 years!
