Congratulations to our Shining Knights this week: 5th grader Brynn and 8th grader Chloe. We are proud of the effort they give to achieve excellence in the classroom!

Our 6th graders had a great day...making a difference for developing nations! They were "Feed My Starving Children" helpers, and within their shift, they packed 160 boxes = 34,560 meals = feeding 94 kids for 1 year! Our students always enjoy helping out the Feed My Starving Children organization...what a great cause!
Congratulations to 3rd grader Quinlan and 4th grader Kade for being this week's Shining Knights! We are proud to recognize their kindness and excellence in the classroom!

6th grade students in Mrs. Shaner's and Mrs. O'Connor's class have been reading Broken Blade by William Durbin. They have also been learning about the history behind the story. Last week, Mr. Durbin made an appearance to the school to talk with the students about his book, how he write historical fiction books, and his career as an author.
Our 7-8th graders are staying busy in Business & Marketing! As they dig deeper into their Shark Tank Projects, they were so fortunate to have Tanya Henson of The Hat Chic Clothing Company come into class to help sort some new crazy ideas! She helped students realize where ideas come from (and sometimes they are not planned), and also shared the experience of the idea growing even bigger than imagined!
Knights of Columbus Council 945 awarded St. Mary's School $1,250.00 to purchase a large pull-up bar, multi-use goals, junior sized footballs, foam covered frisbees, and Tchoukball. Pictured here are 1st and 2nd grade students with some of the new equipment. St. Mary's School is very grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their support of Catholic education.

Congratulations to SIX of our SMS students who received the Great Promise Award from the Owatonna Area Serra Club on Saturday night. These students were nominated as 6th graders by teachers and/or parish priests, and now receive this award as 7th graders. After all Catholic 6th Grade Steele County nominations are in, the Serra Club committee chooses the students who they feel show great promise as future Catholic leaders through their example of service, generosity, and leadership. Congratulations Lola, Tate, Kiley, Claire, Noah, and Matthew!
