The Knights came out on top in all four championship basketball games played during the Tri-County Tournament on Saturday, February 27, 2016. The temperature in the gym wasn't the only thing that was hot as the Knights hit many of their shots and came out on top.
Girls B Team
The girls' B team defeated the Cardinals from Bethlehem Academy 29-22 after being down by as many as 9 points. Maggie Newhouse led the way with 19 points, but it was a total team effort all athletes contributing to the victory over arch-rival BA.
Boys B Team
The boys' B team defeated the Saints from St. Dominic's in Northfield by a score of 34-26. Brayden Truelson drained 15 points and was assisted by 5 more Knights who scored to contribute to the team cause. The Saints gave it their all, but the Knights were just too much for the Saints to overcome.
Girls A Team
The girls' A team defeated the Crusaders from Holy Cross in a hard-fought, physical battle 30-14. Brynn Butler scored 12 points and Leah Tucker added 9 to give the Knights the extra push they needed to get past the Crusaders and hold their lead.
Boys A Team
The boys' A team defeated the Cardinals from Faribault Bethlehem Academy 47-31. The firepower and quickness of the Knights put them over the top as they built a lead that the Cardinals could never overcome. The Knights' balanced scoring attack was led by Parker Vaith with 11 points, Derek Huxford with 10 points, Max Degrood with 10 points, and Sol Havelka with 9 points.
Thanks to girls' coaches Eric Hancock & Mark Fisher and boys' coaches Ryan Malo and Bill Dublin for the many hours of practice and games that they invested in this year's athletes.
