We are fortunate to have a Makerspace in our learning environment. Makerspace is a collaborative work environment for making, learning, exploring, discovering, and sharing that uses high tech to no tech tools.
This space houses a littleBits pro circuit library, littleBits STEAM sets, programmable robots, and many other materials intended to inspire the inner inventor in all our students. Our JH grades use this space throughout the day and space is available after school for registered participants.
AFTER SCHOOL MAKERSPACE:
After School Makerspace provides an opportunity for students in Grades 2-5 to explore and create with the materials in our SMS Makerspace at no cost. Participants will have free time and also participate in guided projects that introduce fundamental elements of STEAM. Some items in the Makerspace include: a Lego wall, magnetic tiles, Perler beads, Osmo interactive iPad devices, Sphero programmable robots, and lots and LOTS of cardboard!
The next session runs Tuesdays (February 11 - April ) from 2:45-4:00 PM. There will be NO Makerspace when school is not in session.
The sessions are limited to 15 students. To allow for more student participation, if your child was in the last session please do not register for this session. If your child is unable to register for this session; there will be more opportunity in future sessions.
