This week in first grade:
Track and Field Day is Tuesday, May 2nd!
School lunch will be available that day or you may choose to bring your own lunch.
Students should bring the following items labeled with their names : a bag with sunscreen, waterbottle, and hat (optional). Students need to wear atheltic clothing and tennis shoes. Please be mindful of the weather that day for we will be outside most of the day.
Reading: This week we read the story called One of Three. In our non-fiction unit , we introduced comparisions, maps, table of contents and the importance of types of print.
Math: We practiced buying store items to figure out the cost and make change. Playing store at home is a fun way to practice adding and counting coins to make change. Encourage your child to practice these skills!
Social Studies: We had a great field trip to Oxbow Park and Zollman Zoo on Monday. We learned many things from our Naturalist lesson on Black Bears. Did you know Black Bears do not hibernate? Ask your child what they do?
Special thanks to all the chaperones that joined us that day!!
Religion: We continue to become familiar with stories from our Bibles.
