The 4
th-8
th grade spelling bee was held on January 20, 2016. 7
th grader Laura Gebur was declared our champion, spelling the word
paradiddle correctly to win the title. 8
th grader Jesse Deml came in second place after 13 rounds of intense head-to-head competition with Laura. 7
th grader Kade Robb received third place.
These were the other contestants vying for the title: 4
th graders Aaron Ginnetti, Kennedy Hodgman, Tate Berkley, and Sophia Laughlin; 5
th graders Carter Oltmans, Andrew Skov, Noah Worke, and Jonathan Clubb; 6
th graders Connor Ginskey, Scotty Weckman, Hillary Haarstad, and Damian Boubin; 7
th grader Zach Lenz; and 8
th graders Josh Prostrollo, Joey Prostrollo, and Maggie Krumholz. Students had to place in the top two in their classroom spelling bee in order to advance to our school competition.
Laura will now advance to the Regional Spelling Bee in Rochester, MN, which will be held on February 9. Congratulations Laura!
