St. Mary’s seeks to provide experiences for students to discover and develop their gifts and talents. All elementary students have music class, and junior high students participate in a variety of musical experiences, including choir, concert band, jazz band, liturgy band, choir, and music appreciation. Students showcase their musical abilities at several concerts and the annual talent show. In addition, St. Mary’s School provides an in-house piano teacher who offers lessons throughout the school day. Students seeking an experience in drama can participate in the school play.
In addition to physical education class, St. Mary’s offers many sports’ activities for students to participate in, including floor hockey, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, cheerleading, and baseball. Students competed against area schools and celebrated many victories; however, the main focus of these activities remains sportsmanship and teamwork.
Students also developed skills in the following school-sponsored activities: chess, Lego inventions, robotics, yearbook, mentorship of younger students, student council, school store, principal’s assistants on the student lighthouse team, organizing and hosting a kindness retreat, and decorating the physical school environment. St. Mary’s School continues to incorporate opportunities in developing students’ gifts and talents.
