All students in K-5 particpate in general music at St. Mary's School, meeting 2-3 times per week for 25 minutes. Students learn music concepts that follow the Minnesota Education Association Curriculum Guidelines. Students sing, play instruments, improvise, compose, and listen to a variety of music from around the world. Students also prepare the music for worship in our weekly masses.
Participation is required for all 6th graders, meeting 2-3 times per week for 25 minutes. Choir is an elective course in 7-8th Grade, and those who elect to take it will meet 2-3 times per week for 50 minutes.
Students are introduced to a variety of music literature and also explore their voices through vocal exercises and sight-reading exercises.Students also prepare to sing for our weekly liturgies and are encouraged to lead in our worship services.
Many students at St. Mary’s enjoy being a part of our school Liturgy Choir as an extracurricular activity.
